The History of Kakadu Clothing
Richard and wife Catherine Whillas were the parents of 14 children in outback Australia. They constructed their own oilskin cloth using a wringer mangler and a combination of waxes and oils found on the local land. Oilskin cloth which is known for its functionality and durability would be ideal for everyday use for their family against the harsh Australia bush and weather. Eventually Richard and Catherine and their 5 sons would begin to manufacture outerwear garments for Australians then worldwide.
Nearly 40 years on and in its 3rd generation of Whillas family, Kakadu supplies tough, reliable outerwear products to over 50 counties around the world. Strong rugged canvas, refined oils and waxes, top grain cowhide and antiques brass hardware are amongst the raw materials that give our products the guts to get the job done time and time again!
These products are not only tough and hard wearing but very comfortable and smart. For more information on our hard wearing products click here.
